2. My Teacher's in Detention 2006, Meadowbrook Press. This is the latest anthology from Bruce Lansky's "giggle poetry" factory. Here's what people have said about it: My Teacher's In Detention contains 50 hilarious poems about school that cover everything from homework and tests to detention and gross-out school lunches. The book contains poems by well-known poets, including Bruce Lansky, Jack Prelutsky, Kenn Nesbitt, Ted Scheu and more great "giggle poets."

3. If Kids Ruled the School: More Kids' Favorite Funny School Poems, March 2004, Meadowbrook Press. Ages 6-10.

Here's what the editor, Bruce Lansky "The King of Giggle Poetry", has to say about this new book: "In the tradition of the popular anthology No More Homework! No More Tests! this book covers wild and wacky school topics, like bringing skunks to show-and-tell, falling asleep at your desk, and ripping your pants on the playground. The big timers of children's poetry--including Shel Silverstein, Bruce Lansky, Jack Prelutsky, and Judith Viorst--are all here. So are some up-and-comers--including Kenn Nesbitt, Ted Scheu, Dave Crawley, and Robert Pottle. They've all converged on the pages of this book to deliver the very best in school poetry..."

4. Miles of Smiles, June 2004, Meadowbrook Press. Ages 6-10.

This anthology is a brand new edition of a old favorite, with many new poems added, including a bunch of mine. Here's what Kenn Nesbitt, author of The Aliens Have Landed, said about the new Miles of Smiles. "What a riot! Miles of Smiles will have you falling out of your chair laughing. It's the world's funniest collection of children's poetry." In case you are interested, it's also a tiny bit 'earthier' than If Kids Ruled The School.

5. Rolling In The Aisles, Fall 2004, Meadowbrook Press.

This is another sure-fire-funny anthology with a few of my poems in it. Rolling in the Aisles is the fourth hardcover anthology of humorous poems for children from Meadowbrook Press--full of funny rhymes selected by a panel of more than 1,000 elementary and middle-school students. Shel Silverstein, Jack Prelutsky, Bruce Lansky, Kenn Nesbitt, Ted Scheu, (that's ME!) Robert Pottle and Dave Crawley all made the cut for this giggle-packed anthology of rhymes. Check it out!

6. You're Not Going Out Like That!, 2003, Macmillan Children's Books, UK. Ages 7-10.

From Amazon, UK: "A very funny anthology of poems about dressing up and outfits to make your parents (or dog, or grandchildren or pupils) despair. From 'Take Off That Hat!' 'No son of mine is going out with that thing on his head! Don't take another step, young man... Did you hear what I said? So do not dream of going out - I simply couldn't bear it. Besides, that hat is mine, you know, and I would like to wear it." Ted Scheu. Hey, that's me!

7. The Dog Ate My Bus Pass, 2004, Macmillan Children's Books, UK. Ages 7-10.

From Amazon, UK: "The Dog Ate My Bus Pass is a brilliant collection of hilarious poems featuring some of the world's most incredible excuses, apologies, tall stories and fibs. It is essential reading for all children (and some adults too!). From 'The Worst Excuses in the World', number 5 by Clare Bevan; I'd only left it for two minutes while I built a scale model; of Buckingham Palace out of cheese triangles, when a whole; herd of angry wildebeest stampeded through our back garden, battered down the kitchen door, and before they vanished; into the shimmering sunset, they trampled my book under; their mighty, thundering hooves, and the dog ate it."

8. Poems to Embarrass Grown-Ups, 2004, Macmillan Children's Books, UK.

From Amazon UK: "An anthology full of irreverent and cheeky poems about embarrassing grown-ups, whether it's them making you cringe, or you making them blush. Things like your dad dancing badly, then trying to play football and your mum getting out photos of you as a baby... Or scenarios such as you asking guests rude questions, painting Dad's face with make-up, and the whole class laughing at your teacher's flies being undone. Be warned - this'll make you squirm!" Ages 7-10

9 . Disgusting Poems, 2004, Scholastic Books Ltd, UK. Ages 7-10.

Many kids in the UK seem especially attracted to poems with an earthy edginess. That's not usually my style, but occasionally I'm in that sort of mood. Here's what Amazon UK has to say about this new anthology: "A snotty, slimy, sick-inducing selection of the most disgusting poems ever written. Paul Cookson has collected verse old and new about the most tasteless and revolting things you can imagine... Stinky socks, crusty cowpats, burps and bogies - this anthology has them all, and more!" So, take a look, if you dare, but not immediately after eating, please.
