Ted’s Privacy Policy
My goal, always, is to provide a website for children of all ages that is both fun and safe. I’ve tried to make zooming around the site as easy as possible. Parents of younger children may want to first explore the site with their children to help them get started.
Poetryguy.com deeply respects the privacy of its visitors. There is no registration required to use our site. We adhere to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act http://www.coppa.org/coppa.htm.
If your child wants to receive the newest Poem of the Moment via email, a valid email address is all that is required. A name is not required. Recipients of the Poem of the Moment may, of course, cancel at any time. Doing so removes all record of the email address from our database.
Please note that children 13 years of age or younger should obtain parental permission before submitting any information to the website, including their email to receive the Poem of the Moment.
If your child wants to send a poem to Ted to be included on the Young Poets’ Page (this page is not set up at the moment, and Ted is not accepting submissions yet), he/she will be asked to provide only the text of their poem, and her/his first name, and school or town, and state/country. At that time, before the poem is posted, we will solicit verifiable permission from parents/legal guardians.
Your child will never be asked for his or her gender, street address, phone number, or other identifying information.
By the letter of the COPPA rule, Ted can correspond just once with children aged 13 or younger. He will do this only to simply and briefly thank them for their comments, or to let them know, in the case of poem submissions (above) that their poem has been posted on the Young Poets’ Page for them to enjoy.
Children will not be required to submit any personal information when they are on the poetryguy.com web site. They may from time to time choose to submit general information voluntarily, including their ratings and comments on the poems provided, or ideas for poems. No name or personal information is needed for that form of comment.
Children may also voluntarily send comments via email using the feedback/guestbook form provided on the website. No real names are required for this type of email either. As above, Ted may or may not respond with a very short comfirmation/thank you message.
All information submitted by children will be used only for the development and improvement of the site and will never be sold or shared with other companies or web sites.

Links to Other Sites
We do recommend and provide links to other sites on the Internet, which may or may not require registration. Parents should advise children to get their parents’ permission before submitting any information over the Web. See the Federal Communications Commission’s Kidz Privacy page at http://onguardonline.gov/articles/0031-kids%E2%80%99-privacy for more information on how to protect your children’s privacy online.
We have done our best to ensure that all the sites linked to from our web site are kid-friendly, but content on the Internet changes minute by minute, so we can’t guarantee the content of every site. If you feel that any links are inappropriate please contact us with the name of the site so we may filter it to prevent it from appearing on poetryguy.com.
Advertising
Currently the poetryguy.com website only advertises for sale books of poetry by poet Ted Scheu, and anthologies containing Ted Scheu’s poems. No other forms of advertising are used on the site.
It is our additional intention to adhere to the self-regulatory guidelines of the Children’s Advertising Review Unit of the Better Business Bureau.
Have fun! And be safe on the web!
